Step 7: Quests

Questing is an important part of society in Etheralia.  You need to do quests in order to gain passports to move around the world.  Quests begin nearly the same way as trading.  Next to the trading icon is another one, the quest icon.  Only certain NPCs will have this icon--you can never get quests from other players or monsters.  When you first click on the quest icon, the NPC will give you a choice of a quest.  They will tell you of an item they need and where to find it, or a monster that they want dead, and where to find one.  If you click to accept the quest, it begins, and you cannot take another quest until you finish the one you are currently on, or abort it.

If it is a monster quest, all you need to do is go search for the monster.  They will always be where the NPC tells you they are--you just may have to look around a little.  (Hint:  monsters load on refreshes of the screen.)  Once you have killed the monster, all you need to do is go back to the NPC who gave you the quest and click its quest icon again.  This should complete your quest.  If you don't remember who gave it to you, don't worry--all other NPCs will tell you the name of the NPC who gave you the quest if you click on their quest icons.

Items quests work slightly differently.  Once the NPC gives you the name of the item they want, and who has one, you can just click on that NPC's quest icon.

Note:  DO NOT click on the NPC's trade icon.  This will not get you the quest item you need.

The NPC will then sell you the item for a certain amount of gold, at which point you take it back to the NPC who issued the quest for your reward. (Click on the original NPC's quest icon again).
